If you’re not quite ready to start an apprenticeship or traineeship, you may want to consider our Work Experience Placement Program. Through this program, CSBP provides opportunities for students interested in our industry to gain exposure and determine whether a science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) career is right for you.

Is a work experience placement for you?

The work experience program is suitable for:

Secondary school students
Students enrolled in relevant vocational study

Traditionally, placements in the following streams have been approved:

Mechanical Engineering (Mechanical Fitting)
Electrotechnology (Industrial Electrician)
Process Operations

Requests outside of these streams are considered on a case-by-case basis.

All work placements are unpaid and are available only when an opportunity arises. Applicants must be covered by their sponsoring institution’s professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

Practical work experience and formal education

Combine what you are learning in the workplace with formal qualification gained through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) such as TAFE.

Driving Operations

Trainee Area Manager - a look inside the role

CSBP Fertilisers offer traineeships for individuals who have a passion for agriculture and tertiary qualifications in agriculture or business.

Area Managers position and reinforce CSBP Fertilisers’ reputation as a reliable, progressive and quality provider of nutritional solutions and services. They understand that solutions go beyond selling fertilisers and involve understanding the technical aspects, whether it is agriculture nutrition (agronomy) or technology, and applying this knowledge to the customer’s business.

Trainee Area Mangers receive great grounding in the agricultural industry by getting exposure to all parts of the CSBP Fertilisers business including:

Sales, including understanding sales targets & commercial drivers for business today
Nutritional solutions
Services (Trials, Field research and CSBP Soils Laboratory)
Customer Service (Admin and Despatch)
Operations (Country works, Depots)

You will have the unique opportunity to work for a business that invests in your training and development for the long term. To ensure your success, you will receive formal training and will also spend time learning from a number of experienced Area Managers before being posted to a regional location.

Learn on the job

CSBP has a long history of providing a supportive learning environment for mechanical, electrical/instrumentation and fabrication apprentices.

We have a strong focus on the safety of our people and provide foundational safety training, including how to do risk assessments, and complete hazard identification.

All our apprentices and tradespersons are employed under Enterprise Agreements and benefit from fantastic terms and conditions. During your apprenticeship you will work towards a trade qualification while learning on the job.

What we’re looking for

Apprentices bring new ideas and diversity to the business. We look for individuals who demonstrate excellence in previous vocational studies and/or have relevant workplace experience. Mature age applicants, females, Aboriginal Australians and those from diverse cultural backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

What will you do as a CSBP Mechanical or Electrical & Instrumentation Apprentice?

Gain invaluable hands-on experience by being a part of our maintenance team in one of our manufacturing and production facilities located in Kwinana
Experience rotations across our different production plants in Kwinana to gain broad experience of plant maintenance
Continue career development under the supervision and guidance of skilled mentors
Have your education and resource fees fully subsidised
Use the program as a gateway to explore job opportunities across CSBP, the wider WesCEF division
