CSBP has been operating in accordance with the Safety Report regime since it was introduced in Western Australia in the late 1980s. The purpose of a Safety Report is to demonstrate appropriate risk control measures are implemented and managed to prevent and reduce the effects of potential major incidents.
The Department of Mines Industry, Regulation and Safety has approved CSBP’s Safety Reports, confirming that the risk of an incident occurring that may have an off-site impact is extremely low. This low risk is due to the extensive control measures implemented to prevent any incident occurring.
Additionally, control measures are in place to mitigate the impact of an incident in the unlikely event that it occurs. This includes safe engineering design, good maintenance and reliability programs, competency-based training programs, disciplined auditing / inspection programs and quality emergency management capability.
