Community involvement

WesCEF and CSBP employees for Bike Hike

In 2014/15 Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers (WesCEF), which includes CSBP, contributed $430,000 through direct financial support and the donation of goods, the majority of this funding was dedicated to sponsorships within the local community. Sponsorship request priorities include: youth education, training and wellbeing; community health and wellbeing; Aboriginal communities; environmental sustainability; and agricultural sustainability.

To complement our ad hoc sponsorship agreements in the local community, WesCEF has a strong, long-term partnership in place with the Clontarf Foundation, in particular the Gilmore Clontarf Academy, a foundation which exists to improve the education, discipline, self-esteem, life skills and employment prospects of young Aboriginal men.

We also support our employees in their support of community fundraising events such as the Chevron City to Surf for Activ, Movember in support of men’s health, and Wear Purple to Work Day to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care WA.

Industry partnerships

CSBP values cooperation and contribution, and demonstrates this through its active involvement in a number of industry bodies in Western Australia and Victoria.

Sharing knowledge with peers as an opportunity to collectively improve the health, safety and environmental performance of industry is achieved through CSBP’s involvement with the Kwinana Industries Council. As a sign of CSBP’s commitment to this, CSBP personnel currently chair three of the four Kwinana Industries Council committees.

CSBP is also a signatory to the Plastics & Chemicals Industries Association’s Responsible Care program. This includes a code of practice dedicated to Industry Transparency and Engagement. This means we strongly support the provision of information to the community regarding our facilities.

Regular communication

CSBP has an ongoing commitment to keeping the community informed of its activities at our sites, and as a result conducts site tours for a range of stakeholders, maintains a relevant and current website, posts information on the Kwinana Industries Council’s Community Information Service and distributes media statements as appropriate. CSBP also regularly partakes in the Kwinana Community and Industries Forum.
